More about this event

19 March 2020 - Llanrwst

26 March 2020 - Cardiff

Almost half the people in Wales have had an Adverse Childhood Experience. One in seven people in Wales have had more than four ACEs. ACEs affect people of all ages and cross every social boundary, causing toxic stress that can lead to increased risk of poor mental wellbeing and health harming behaviours that increase the risk of chronic disease.

Preventing and mitigating the effects of ACEs can help to break intergenerational cycles of harm and improve outcomes for families.

This event follows on from ACE Support Hub’s work in raising awareness of ACEs, including the #aceawaresowhat [opens in new window] campaign. This event will provide an opportunity for delegates to evaluate where we are now and what needs to happen next. We will celebrate the successes to date and focus on moving the conversation forward to enable trauma informed services to be the norm.

The event will focus on three key areas:

  • service users
  • leadership
  • organisational culture
