Auditor General receives CBE in Queen’s honours list

    The Auditor General for Wales, Huw Vaughan Thomas, has been awarded a CBE in the Queen’s birthday honours list.

    He has been made Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for his services to public audit and accountability in Wales”

    Huw Vaughan Thomas, who retires in July, has been Auditor General for Wales for nearly 8 years. He has spent nearly 5 decades working in public service, with previous roles including the Department of Employment Director for Wales and Chief Executive of Gwynedd and Denbighshire councils. 

    Auditor General, Huw Vaughan-Thomas said today:

    “Being the Auditor General of Wales has in many ways been the high point of my 48 years in public service. To be awarded a CBE is not just a personal honour but also a tribute to the energy and commitment of staff at the WAO and the invaluable support they have provided me throughout my term of office.”
